ExplorationWorks! Benefits from $6000.00 Helena Rotary Grant

Rotarians will be volunteering in classes that use the donated equipment to support expanded class offering

ExplorationWorks! And Explore School, the Helena School District’s science program for home school students at ExplorationWorks!, received 10 laptop computers, a laser printer, a classroom set of Snap electronic kits and WeDo Lego robotics kits from the Rotary Club of Helena for use in education programs at the science center.
The education tools were provided to the science center through a matching grant from Rotary District 5390, which encompasses all of Montana.  Rotary Club members raise funds throughout the year to fund grants to benefit area youth.
Helena Rotary Club President John Scharf explained that, the computers and other equipment donated to ExWorks would allow every student in Explore School to work with a laptop as a class.  Likewise, after school and weekend classes at ExplorationWorks! Will be equipped to learn coding, robotics, circuitry, and computer game design.
The equipment will allow new classes to be offered and will allow more students to be engaged in STEM learning at the science center.
The grant also stipulates that outreach will include the Friendship Center, the YWCA, the YMCA, Helena Food Share, Family Promise and United Way to promote participation in after school, weekend, and summer camp experiences by low income and homeless families.  ExplorationWorks! Provides scholarships for students who cannot afford class tuition.
Rotarians will be volunteering in classes that use the donated equipment to support expanded class offerings.
